Bob Good Memorial Day 17th March 2019

Photo of Bob Good Bob Good, who was Chairman of the Golfing Society for 13 years, died in July 2018. He was cremated at a private family ceremony. A Memorial Day was always planned by his wife Maggie and Bob, before he died, for St. Patrick's Day (17th March) 2019. Bob was proud of his Irish heritage and one of his newest treasures was his Irish passport.

The Memorial Day started with a service of celebration in the impressive surroundings of the RHS Chapel with contributions from Bob and Maggie's two sons, Niall and Iain. The service was well attended by people from Bob's main interests, his family, the RHS school, the Freemasons and the Golfing Society. After the service, the congregation followed a piper, playing Irish bagpipes to the Jellico room for a sumptuous buffet and refreshments.

The buffet was followed by the dedication of the memorial bench, donated by the Golfing Society and erected by the 8th tee, which culminated in the bench being anointed with a generous measure of Macallans single malt whisky (Other malt whiskies are available). A nine hole Texas Scramble golf competition ensued, with mixed teams of RHS old boys, Freemasons and Golfing Society Members competing for memorial, crystal glassware. Towards the end of the golf round, there was a cloudburst of stinging hailstones and many people felt that it was Bob having the last laugh.
