Royal Hospital School Golfing Society

	Bill Seggar Memorial Day 10th September 2023
	In great weather on Sunday 10th September 2023, 34 members played in a Charity Texas scramble in memory of Bill Seggar who sadly passed earlier in the year. Members of his family and friends then joined the Society on the 8th tee when a plaque on the Founders' memorial bench was dedicated in Bill's memory. The picture shows golfers, family and friends at the Founders' bench behind the 8th tee.
	Bill was a founder member, our first vice captain in 1988 and subsequent captain. Roles on the committee included greens and course, an author of our constitution & rules and organiser of many a successful social event. His early involvement shaped the society as we know it today. Bill was an ever present member and supporter of the society. He was a regular in competitions as well as social golf playing among his many friends and family. In later years he could be seen navigating the course in his buggy in all weather. Bill was and remains an inspiration to us all. It is testament to Bill that that the day was so well supported and St. Elizabeth Hospice benefitted from the donations collected in his memory, which totalled an impressive £450. His name now proudly appears on the bench in appreciation for his service to the Society.
